In this role your focus will be to work collaboratively with our software developers to automate the build and deployment of our products, manage our build and test environments, and design, implement and support our production environments. 

We are a new and growing team and you will be given wide scope to choose and implement the best tools and technology to support your role.

We use open-source tools with a focus on Javascript/Node, and you will ideally have experience with the following tools or equivalents:

  • CI tools (Jenkins)
  • Container technology (Docker)
  • Git
  • Linux administration
  • Both SQL and NoSQL data stores (e.g. Postrgres, Redis, Mongo)
  • Scripting (e.g. Python, Bash)


  • Build and maintain the development and operational infrastructure
  • Build and support our continuous delivery and test automation toolsets across web and native mobile apps.
  • System infrastructure design – assist the team in the selection of best appliance or service for the job, such as determining whether an EC2 instance or Lambda is best suited for a particular requirement.
  • Help define and implement system monitoring and alerting requirements with appropriate incident management & escalation planning
  • Document  platform design, Dev Ops procedures and triage processes for both large scale simulcast broadcast events e.g. Melbourne Cup and in support of product delivery e.g. 7Tennis, along with our core systems
  • Work with operations and development and test teams to ensure effective resolution of outages and performance issues.
  • Work with all teams involved in the design, development and maintenance of our digital products to ensure best-practice in making updates to the infrastructure and managing ‘go live’ where required
  • Active involvement in the commissioning of any new system or system upgrade project.
  • Keep up to date with the latest trends and industry “best practices” pertaining to Digital products & services infrastructure and DevOps.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • IT, Engineering or other relevant Qualifications
  • CI Tools (Jenkins or Bamboo)
  • GIT
  • Container experience (ideally using Docker)
  • Linux administration knowledge and scripting skills (preferably Ubuntu)
  • At least two years of experience working with AWS: VPC, EC2, EBS, Security Groups, Autoscaling Groups, Route53/DNS, Cloudformation templates
  • Some knowledge of Javascript and Node
  • Excellent written and verbal communications at all levels.
  • Flexibility in work times and availability for call-outs.
  • Experience with event-based projects in fast-changing environments
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team, adhere to tight deadlines, work well under pressure
  • Continuous learner - up-to-date knowledge of latest Software and Hardware technologies.
