Based at Media City in Eveleigh and reporting to the Editor, you will be an organised, highly skilled editor, writer, manager and ideas generator, who is passionate about creating smart and engaging content. You will relish the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, across every touch point of the InStyle brand, including print, digital, social media and events.

The person we’re looking for will be:

  • A positive, proactive all-rounder with a strong journalistic background (minimum 5+ years), able to turn your hand to anything from in-depth cover stories to celebrity interviews and culture news
  • An outstanding and detail-driven editor and people manager, who’s exceptionally organised and able to juggle multiple deadlines with ease and good humour
  • Passionate about fashion, beauty and lifestyle genres with great ideas, a finger on the pulse of the latest trends and an overflowing contacts book
  • A flexible and enthusiastic content creator who is solutions-focused and adept at dealing with the ever-changing media landscape

In this role you will:

  • Write concisely, logically and with creative, clever spark for print and online
  • Edit and proofread text and mentor junior writers
  • Manage the day-to-day running of the team and production flow, working efficiently to meet deadlines and ensure fast turnaround of all work
  • With the Editor, undertake long-range planning and strategy for the brand and its channels, along with our signature campaigns and events, including shopping nights and the well-known Women of Style Awards.
  • Work closely with the advertising sales, marketing and PR departments
  • Attend events and functions and represent InStyle as required
  • Become a key part of a passionate, creative and respectful editorial team

Only those with a strong media background and relevant experience to the Deputy Editor role will be considered. A keen interest in fashion and style is essential. Experience in the following will be highly regarded: managing employees; skills in InDesign, CMS programs and SEO; responding to client briefs with creative ideas that will appeal to clients and audiences.
