A new and exciting opportunity has opened for a Technical Operator to join the Seven Technical operations Team. This position will provide immediate support for Broadcast Services at Brisbane and other associated sites like the Gold Coast. 

A strong Technical and/or IT background or interest will be looked upon favourably to enable advancement into other areas of support

This is the chance to work with a team of passionate technicians who collaborate to maintain and operate all the broadcast equipment depended upon by Local/Network News and Programming

Based in Brisbane, and reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Actively learning our Broadcast systems that require ongoing support
  • Take direction from the Senior team to support equipment and the operations of it for on-air requirements
  • Act as that first in line person to problem solve and provide general on-air Technical support as required.
  • Coordinating incoming and outgoing feeds and live crosses for both Sydney and Network News services.
  • Configuring and establishing communications for studio and outside broadcast requirements.
  • The application of engineering quality control to network news transferring operations.
  • Assisting with the testing and commissioning of new Broadcast/IT systems prior to coming on-line.
  • Understanding and maintaining equipment such as cameras (incl robotic), monitors, routers, microwave and satellite links, communications systems, vision and audio switchers.
  • Undertaking the planning and be involved with small scale projects as required
  • Take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself and others in the workplace

 You will have:

  • A keen interest in television systems
  • An enthusiastic attitude to learning new skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (listening / verbal / written).
  • Must be prepared to work as part of a team.
  • Needs to present well and be well mannered.
  • Be prepared to work irregular hours including weekends
  • Current Australian Drivers License
  • A strong Technical and/or IT background or interest

The successful candidate will have a Broadcast background, and experience in one or all of the following areas will be highly regarded - Master Control, Technical Director, In-Field Satellite/Microwave Links Operations and Support.
