Seven West Media is the leading listed national multi-platform media business based in Australia. We comprise Channel Seven, The West Australian, The Sunday Times, The West, PerthNow and associated Community and WA Regional newspapers.

Based in our Osborne Park office and reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager, the Senior Payroll Officer will take responsibility for a small team of Payroll Officers and oversee our payroll function.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

• Assisting a small team of Payroll Officers (x2) performing end to end payroll processing of approximately 800 employees
• Reviewing and approving pay runs (weekly, fortnightly and monthly)
• Resolving complex payroll queries in a professional manager
• Producing month-end and year-end reports for the business
• Preparation, reconciliation and payment of PAYG and superannuation
• Maintaining the integrity of Preceda
• Mentoring and training the Payroll Officers
• Ensuring all other payroll matters are addressed in a timely manner

To be successful in this position, you will have:

• A bachelor’s degree in Finance or Economics, or Certificate IV in Payroll Administration
• Proven payroll experience for a minimum of 4-5 years’ experience in a similar role
• Demonstrated experience in interpreting EBAs, modern awards and other state and industry legislation
• Demonstrated extensive experience in payroll tax, pay run, superannuation, year-end, etc.
• Experience in Preceda would be highly regarded
• Proven interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effective with people at all levels within the organisation, including external stakeholders
• Ability to prioritise and manage a demanding, high volume payroll
• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
