Data Operations Engineer - Sydney - Fixed Term Contract 🧑‍💻

The Opportunity

We're searching for a Data Operations Engineer to join our mighty Data Operations Team.

You'll be working on Seven's Advertising and Audience data, supporting, administrating and configuring the tech stack that's used by our data SME's to deliver marketing and 1st party audience building insights every day.

You'll be delivering operational efficiencies, improve system availability, help write the glue that underpins data movements between data platform systems.

 

What you'll be doing!

  • Establishing and maintaining systems to monitor data quality.
  • Managing and optimising data pipelines
  • Leveraging automation for data integration, governance, and troubleshooting
  • Collaborate with Database and Data Engineering experts to manage SQL-based data delivery and data flow quality.
  • Support DevOps teams with big data integration in cloud-based Cloudera Hadoop and Teradata DB environments.
  • Aid in system migration planning and load testing.
  • Partner with engineering, analytics, and business teams to enhance data models for better business intelligence.
  • Conduct data analysis to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
  • Serve as a liaison for knowledge sharing between data and DevOps teams.

 

We'd love you to have:

  • Experience in Data Operations, ETL Development or similar role
  • Passion for being a collaborative team player 
  • Clear verbal and written communication skill 
  • Positive, willing and pro-active mindset 
  • Analytical mindset and a knack for troubleshooting 

Technical Skills 

  • Cloud Platforms:
    • Developing and designing applications using cloud platforms (preferably AWS, or Azure, GCP)
    • Cloud engineering: deploys, debugs, and executes cloud computing initiatives
    • Designing, developing, and maintaining cloud-based systems, ensuring efficient data storage and security compliance
  • Programming Languages:
    • Proficiency in Python, Java, BASH, or VBA
  • Data Systems:
    • Working knowledge of modern data system concepts (SOAP, RESTful HTTP APIs, JSON, Apache Parquet)
    • Strong SQL skills with experience in ETL/ELT
  • Development Tools:
    • Familiarity with modern enterprise tools (Atlassian, Teams, Slack, Azure DevOps)
    • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
