We are looking for a part-time (30.4 hours) or full time Financial Accountant to join our motivated and high performing Finance team. Based in our Osborne Park office and reporting to the Team Lead - Financial Accounting, this role will suit someone who enjoys variety in their daily tasks and works well in a team environment. The role will include some month end reporting with a compliance focus, as well as process improvement project work. This role touches on all entities within The West Australian Newspaper Group and will require a strong desire to understand the unique business in which we operate.
Experience within a busy commercial environment, CPA/CA qualification (or working towards), exposure to an ERP system and familiarity with reporting deadlines are some key skills you bring to this role. Exposure to tax including BAS reporting, FBT or income tax would also be highly regarded.

About the Role:
- Monthly reporting processes, including:
- Responsibility for ‘Digital’ accounting and reporting, including analysis of results
- Accounting for contra arrangements with partners
- Lease accounting journals (AASB 16)
- Accrued revenue / expense management
- Creation and processing of other journals as required
- Assist with completion of Group reporting schedules
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Accounting compliance tasks including:
- Preparation FBT schedules to support Group submission of returns
- Assistance with income tax schedules for tax effect accounting
- Finance review credit card transactions
- Assisting with audit queries
- Supporting financial accounting team to drive change in identified project areas, including but not limited to:
- BAS reporting
- Inventory costing / reporting / impairment
- Fixed asset management / software capitalisation
About You:
- CPA/CA qualified or nearing completion
- Commercial and public practice experience highly regarded
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong Excel skills
- Self-motivation, strong communicator and growth mindset
- Flexibility and willingness to take on additional responsibilities within the team as required
