Seven News Regional is seeking a journalist for our regional hub in Western Australia.
Our Geraldton office is seeking a reporter who is a self-starter, a confident performer on camera, and one who is prepared to work hard. This role demands excellence in news gathering, writing, interviewing, and presenting information.
This part of WA is a fertile ground for big stories – and you while you are the only journalist in the office, you will be part of a wider team that collaborates to produce the best program each day.
The skills you will learn in this job will give you the best opportunity to take your career in media to the next level.
You’ll be:
- Generating original daily story ideas for on-air and online presentations
- Interviewing, writing and voicing skills
- Being able to broadcast live
- Developing and maintaining contacts in the community
- Research and prepare news reports, whether in the field or in the office
- Finding and Writing feature stories in specific categories
- Create an effective and respectful rapport with internal and external stakeholders
You have:
- Solid VJ experience
- Proven experience writing stories
- Excellent communication and written skills
- Ability to work to very precise deadlines
- To be highly motivated
- To have an understanding in Broadcast Law Guidelines
