Based in our Osborne Park office and reporting to the Team Lead Financial Accounting, our Financial Accountant role has a strong focus on delivering timely and accurate monthly results for our entities within the West Australian Newspaper Group. These reports have high visibility within the organisation and drive important business decisions.

Your experience within a busy commercial environment, having achieved your CPA/CA qualification, combined with your exposure to an ERP system and strong critical thought processes are some key skills that will aid you to succeed in this role. You will be backed by a dynamic and encouraging team, ensuring that you will be supported along the way.

 

About the Role:

  • Preparation of monthly accounts, including:
    • Creation and processing of journals
    • Reconciliations (Bank & Balance sheet)
    • Analysis of results
    • Accruals
  • Fixed Asset maintenance involving:
    • Capex reporting versus budget
    • Fixed asset movement schedules for Group
    • Ensuring compliance with Group fixed asset accounting policy, including appropriate application depreciation rates
    • Capitalisation of salaries
  • Maintenance of prepayment schedule including calculation of monthly amortisation
  • Manage cost re-allocations between departments
  • Mentoring junior part-qualified accountant
  • Assistance with:
    • Audits
    • FBT
    • Income Tax Schedules
    • Budgets
    • Reporting to Head/Group office
    • Adhoc projects

 

About You:

  • Professional presentation and communication skills
  • Has gained CPA/CA qualifications
  • Commercial experience is desirable
  • Excellent attention to detail and is self-motivated
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and tight deadlines, including preparedness to work reasonable additional hours
  • Flexibility and willingness to take on additional responsibilities within the team as required
