The Opportunity:

Based at our head office in Eveleigh, Sydney two days per week, the Unit Manager for 7 News in Sydney plays a pivotal role in providing comprehensive, administrative assistance to the News Director and ad hoc support to the Chief of Staff and other News staff as required.

This role is crucial to ensuring that workflows are managed professionally, efficiently and effectively and the implementation of the business procedures within the News department.

Reporting directly to the Sydney News Director, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Assisting the Chief of Staff with production and management of Reporter’s and Producer’s rosters.
  • Answering phone calls for the News Director when required and assist with email enquiries wherever possible.
  • Liaising with the general public regarding news footage requests and determining appropriate copyright procedures.
  • Managing public complaints in accordance with company procedures and broadcasting code of conduct requirements, ensuring serious complaints are escalated to the News Director.
  • Co-ordinate in-house lunches and functions.

About You:

You will be a highly organised, proactive, and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment.  The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to liaise with people at all levels. You will be capable of immediate problem solving, able to work independently and under pressure

You will have:

  • Previous experience in a fast-paced administrative role
  • A calm demeanour with high level of discretion and experience in working with confidential matters and documents.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Finance One & Fraedom (preferred, but not essential)
  • Media background (preferred, but not essential)
  • Experience in rostering Systems such as Kronos (preferred, but not essential)
