What You’ll Be Doing: 

Are you a passionate storyteller looking to kickstart your journalism career? Or perhaps you’re a professional ready for a career change into the exciting world of media? The Kalgoorlie Miner is on the hunt for a driven Graduate Journalist to join our dynamic team in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia!

Key Responsibilities:

• Writing and breaking news stories for print and online platforms, keeping our readers informed and engaged.
• Building strong relationships with local figures, organizations, and the community.
• Interviewing key people, capturing photos, and providing content that brings our stories to life.
• Collaborating with the Editor and newsroom team to shape story development and news planning.
• Using your passion for news and digital media to upskill in social media promotion and digital production.

What You’ll Bring:

• Strong writing, interviewing, and communication skills – you know how to find a good story and tell it well.
• A passion for local news with an interest in government topics a plus.
• The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with a sense of urgency.
• A flexible, proactive attitude, ready to tackle whatever the day throws at you.
• A valid driver’s license and a willingness to go the extra mile.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
