The Opportunity
As a Broadcast Television Technician, you will play a key role in supporting Seven Tasmania’s daily broadcast operations. From July 1st 2025, Seven will acquire the television licenses in Tasmania and assume responsibility for 7NEWS operations based in Launceston and Hobart – and this is your chance to be part of this exciting transition.
You’ll be the first line of maintenance and technical support for a range of broadcast systems and equipment at our Launceston studio. Reporting to the Head of Broadcast Engineering, you’ll collaborate closely with both editorial and production teams.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Providing frontline technical support for VizMOSART, Quantel editing systems, TVU and Sony field kits, and Sony studio cameras and robotic heads.
- Supporting editorial workflows using Avid iNews.
- Troubleshooting and maintaining studio and field-based broadcast systems.
- Working collaboratively with the news production team to ensure seamless live broadcast delivery.
- Assisting with upgrades, installations, and testing of broadcast equipment and software
About You
You will be a tech-savvy, collaborative, and solutions-focused Broadcast Television Technician who is confident working in a live broadcast environment and experienced in supporting television production systems.
You will have:
- Previous experience in a broadcast engineering or television technical support role.
- Working knowledge of automation and newsroom systems including VizMOSART and Avid iNews.
- Familiarity with field and studio production equipment including TVU, Sony kits and Quantel systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A team-oriented mindset and great communication skills.
- A passion for broadcast media and the desire to stay ahead of evolving technologies.
