We have an exciting opportunity for a recent journalism graduate ready to make an impact in one of Western Australia’s most vibrant and newsworthy regions. Based in our Karratha office, you’ll be at the heart of local storytelling covering everything from community news and sport to photography and digital content.  

You will bring tertiary qualifications in journalism, or a related field, a passion for local news and a solid understanding of digital platforms and social media.   

A collaborative mindset and eagerness to grow within a supportive team are essential.

About the Role 

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key community members and organisations 

  • Researching and writing original news stories for both print and digital platforms  

  • Breaking news and producing engaging, timely content  

  • Actively contributing to news planning meetings and collaborating with the Northern Papers Editor on story development  

  • Conducting interviews and capturing high-quality photographs with professionalism and confidence 

About you 

  • The ability to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines 

  • Strong interviewing and communication skills 

  • A sense of urgency and commitment to delivering timely news 

  • A valid driver’s licence 

  • A genuine passion for local news and storytelling
