The Opportunity:

As an Audio Operator at Seven, you’ll be ensuring the highest quality sound for broadcast and recorded media. From setting up and maintaining equipment to mixing audio in real-time, your expertise guarantees that every note, word, and sound is delivered with precision and clarity. You’ll be required to exercise initiative in actions, planning and meeting tight deadlines. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate who wants to be part of regional Queensland’s top rating news service.

Based at our studio in Maroochydore and reporting to the News Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for:

  • Configuring and programming live show data, monitoring audio and loudness levels to comply with Free TV Australia OP48 standards.
  • Monitoring audio signals to detect sound-quality deviations or equipment malfunctions.
  • Collaborating with other technical staff, news, production and broadcast operation teams to ensure sound requirements are met.
  • Maintaining audio equipment such as stage boxes, IFB kits and lapel microphones.
  • Documenting and logging production activities and equipment settings.
  • Staying up to date with the latest audio technology advancements and trends.

About You:

You are a team player with excellent communication skills, a highly motivated self-starter who can think and act quickly under pressure and with a drive to create a quality product.

You will have:

  • Proven experience in audio or sound production, live events or broadcasting.
  • A knowledge of signal flow, live broadcast audio, IFB talkback systems, mixing console operation and engineering.
  • Proficiency with recording, editing, mixing, and exporting using DAW software especially Adobe Audition.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with good hearing acuity and attention to audio details.
  • Sharp organisational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • A degree, technical training or certification in audio engineering, sound design, or other related fields.
