Do you have an unshakeable connection to the South West region and its vibrant communities? If you're ready to take your career to the next level and lead a talented team of journalists, we want to hear from you!

We're seeking an experienced and dynamic Chief of Staff to join our team and help drive our success across the South West.

About Us: Based in our Bunbury office, this role reports directly to the South West editor and plays a pivotal role in overseeing six weekly mastheads, covering everything from Waroona to Walpole. You'll manage a dedicated team of reporters across multiple locations and contribute to creating the high-impact news our audience counts on.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and lead: Guide, support, and inspire a team of reporters, helping them grow in their craft while maintaining top-tier standards.
  • Get hands-on: Oversee newsroom operations, assigning and briefing reporters on key stories, and ensuring smooth workflow across all departments.
  • Collaborate and communicate: Work closely with senior editors, other departments, and your team to bring innovative and engaging stories to life.
  • Strategic planning: Assist with forward planning, rostering, and keeping the newsroom running like a well-oiled machine under tight deadlines.

What You Bring:

  • Experienced and driven: You have a background in journalism and an innate ability to lead and mentor a team.
  • Tech-savvy: Strong social media skills and deep knowledge of the ever-evolving media landscape.
  • Adaptable under pressure: You're cool under deadline pressure and ready to take charge in fast-paced environments.
  • A team player: Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills are your strengths.
  • Qualifications: While a bachelor’s degree in journalism (or related field) is preferred, it’s your experience and passion that truly matters!

Why You’ll Love Working Here?

  • Work with a leading media company – no media background required!
  • Perks Galore: Salary sacrifice, paid parental leave, and an employee perks program.
  • A vibrant, creative culture where your ideas and energy will be valued.
  • Flexibility in a high-performance but relaxed, friendly environment.
  • Exciting opportunities for personal growth in an exciting company.
  • Paid parental leave
  • Employee health and wellbeing support programs
