We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to oversee the payroll operations for the West Australian Newspaper (WAN) Group and the Telethon Trust.

In this role: Being the Payroll Manager you are responsible for supervision of three direct reports and you will assist in ensuring seamless operation of the payroll function for entities within the West Australian Newspaper (WAN) Group and the Telethon Trust
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing and supervising a small team of Payroll Officers to perform end to end payroll processing of approximately 700 employees.
- Reviewing and approving payroll runs (weekly, fortnightly and monthly).
- Monitoring correctness, eligibility and timeliness of all payroll payments in terms of Awards, EBA’s, Employment Contracts, company policies and other relevant legislation.
- Management of WAN deliverables related to new payroll software implementation (transition from Preceda to Workday).
- Assisting in the design and implementation of enhancements to the company’s payroll system and payroll procedures.
- Key contact to Seven group for all WAN related payroll matters.
- Overseeing and monitoring annual projects such as the issue of bonus payments.
- Preparation, reconciliation and payment of PAYG and superannuation.
- Ensuring accurate preparation of monthly superannuation and payroll tax returns.
- Resolving complex payroll queries from across the WA business.
- Producing month-end and year-end reports for the business.
- Liaising with internal and external auditors.
- Mentoring, developing and training the Payroll Officers.
What You Bring:
- Previous experience in a similar Payroll position.
- Payroll software implementation experience required.
- Previous experience with complex EBA’s and award interpretation.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
