The Opportunity:

As a Broadcast Support Technician at Seven Network, you’ll provide technical support for the production needs of programs produced at Seven which includes Sunrise, The Morning Show, Sydney and Network News services, and major broadcast events. Please note, this position involves 24/7 shift work, working on rotating shifts to support Seven’s operational needs.

The role encompasses maintenance, repair, and rectification of video, audio, and broadcast-related IT systems whilst supporting studio production equipment, field/ENG production equipment, and broadcast infrastructure, including master control, editing, transfers (ingest/news exchange), graphics, and control rooms.

Based at our headquarters in Eveleigh, Sydney and reporting to the Head of Technical Services, you will be responsible for:

  • Repairing, maintaining, and supporting all broadcast equipment and systems at Channel Seven, ensuring high uptime and addressing issues promptly.
  • Troubleshooting technical problems, liaising with vendors, and providing emergency support for productions.
  • Monitoring equipment quality, identifying potential improvements, and implementing cost-effective, reliable, and high-quality solutions.
  • Documenting completed work, maintaining transparency, and sharing knowledge with colleagues to improve overall operations.
  • Staying updated on broadcast technology, performing research, continuously learning, and finding ways to develop and introduce improvements.

About You:

You thrive on problem-solving, actively seek out knowledge, and never settle for ‘good enough.’ You don’t just fix issues; you anticipate, improve, and innovate. You have the ability to work well in a team with a strong customer focus and can think under pressure.

You will have:

  • Previous experience in broadcast IT, broadcast engineering or support role.
  • Knowledge of television technology fundamentals and ability to use television tools and measuring equipment.
  • Three or more areas of expert-level knowledge (e.g. camera maintenance, VTR maintenance, IP streaming technology, RF technology, component-level repair, broadcast systems, database administration, network engineering, etc).
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with proven documentation skills.
