What You’ll Be Doing: Being the Financial Accounting Team Lead you are responsible for supervision of four direct reports, and you will assist in ensuring seamless operation of financial processes for entities within the West Australian Newspaper Group.

Key Responsibilities:

Monthly Reporting

• Manage month end close process ensuring timely delivery of accurate results.
• Oversight accruals, prepayment, capex, cost coding, intercompany transactions
• Analysis of results including variances to forecast/budget.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations
• Completion/review group reporting schedules
• Support financial accounting team with queries as required.

Compliance

• Accounting standard compliance maintaining financial acumen across WAN corporate structure.
• Manage corporate credit card transaction approval process.
• Assist with half year and year end audit queries.
• Assist with FBT, income tax and BAS reporting to support Group tax submissions.
• Modern Slavery compliance

Other

• Partnering with management accounting team and key business stakeholders
• Telethon financial accounting support
• Payroll accounting support (including leave provisions)
• Staff mentoring
• Ad hoc tasks as directed by your manager

What You’ll Bring:

• CPA/CA Qualified
• Previous experience in a similar finance role (Commercial experience recommended)
• High attention to detail and time management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong team leadership skills and a passion for staff training
